I am truly sorry but I have to disagree with your idea that you are for everyone being themselves and that you have no problem with gays or anything but I feel that it is not very appropriate for you to be a bigot. Again I am sorry and don’t mean to come off as offensive in any way when I call you a bigot. I just cannot say I agree with your bigotry. 

I agree with original poster (gasp!). Disney makes kids movies. Characters for kids should be asexual (but not aromantic, there’s a difference, okay?). Disney is not politics and really won’t shake culture that much. If anything, it will do more damage than anything else. I love the idea of a gay protagonist in a major movie for not-adults, but it needs to be an action hero or something, not a disney movie. Little kids don’t even know what sex/sexuality is, so influence would be relatively negligible. Their parents will get mad, or glad, or whatever, but if the point is to influence kids, which you can’t deny that it is, they just won’t get it. 

Look, I support gay rights. I’m kind of questioning my sexuality myself. But Disney is not how you get things done

There are no asexual or aromantic disney characters. They are all heterosexual. They are all straight. You know why? No one thinks twice about people being straight. Straight characters can show they love each other in a kids movie without it being sexualized! No one thinks twice of Ariel kissing Eric in the Little Mermaid. No one thinks twice about Belle kissing Adams (the Beast), no one thinks twice about Jasmine kissing Aladdin, etc. Why? Because its seen as normal for straight people to kiss without it being sexual. No gay character in a Disney movie is going to have sex. Like OMG they will dance together and have a kiss! It’s not going to harm children. You know why? Kids see two people in a fucking relationship as normal. Kids do not think twice about two people who love each other. Kids do not wonder how gay people have sex when they see a gay couple having dinner in a restaurant, holding hands, etc. They see a couple like they see their parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles, etc. They will see a gay disney couple the same way they see the straight couples (Ariel/Eric, Jasmine/Aladdin, etc). Little kids don’t have to understand sexuality to know a gay couple loves each other as much as a straight couple. Also for the love of all things good, some kids have gay parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and know gay people! They see it as normal. They see gay relationships as normal because their parents are gay. Kids are not shitty like the people who raise them to think being gay is wrong.
