Lots of sexist bullshit about ladies who have or want tattoos… How many ridiculously false things can there be in one opinion piece? Let’s see:
- She assumes women get tattooed as an act of rebellion
- She thinks tattoos ruin a person’s body
- She thinks anything women do to their body should be pleasing to a man’s eye, so anything that isn’t is something we just simply shouldn’t do
- She thinks all women know how to use their feminine wiles to get men to drool over them
- She doesn’t even account for the women who aren’t attracted to and DGAF about men
- She thinks men aren’t attracted to women with tattoos (FALSE)
- She assumes that a woman with “class” is some universal standard, and all women should strive for it
- She thinks all women want to have bodies that are considered “hot” and high heels and shopping and nails
- She thinks tattoos are vandalizing your body (while I know many, many, many people who believe quite the opposite, myself included- my tattoos are custom works of art)
- She assumes you can’t be elegant and tattooed simultaneously
- She assumes everyone wants to be (or SHOULD be) elegant, which is wrong in the first place
- She thinks a woman “flaunting her body like it’s her job” is degrading
- She assumes there are things that are more “productive” someone can do to improve and appreciate their body- while I’d say that for many people tattoos are an awesome way to accomplish both
- She thinks people with tattoos are trying to prove something (how many times must I say this? My tattoos aren’t for anyone else, they’re FOR ME)
- She thinks you can’t get anything out of tattoos, that they can’t make you happier, teach you anything, cause self-growth… And all of that is truly false. If nothing else the act of getting tattooed itself has taught me A LOT about myself and led to self-growth. Tattoos are the most painful thing I’ve ever gone through, so if I didn’t learn or grow from that experience, there’d be something severely wrong
- She suggests other shallow, expensive things to do instead of getting tattoos in order to improve your body (there’s a difference between improving your body and expressing yourself)
- She thinks everyone wants grandkids (or even kids) and is convinced that explaining morals to them will be hard just because someone has tattoos, therefore it seems she thinks tattoos themselves are immoral. FFS. My tattoos and my morality aren’t really linked, except for the fact that both are a part of me.
