eta: If I read one more “omg relax it’s just Colbert” comment, heads are gonna roll.
but this woman handled this interview with such strides.
and gave thought out dignified responses to obvious provocations on the part of Colbert.
Which is the character he plays.
I thought she was great and I laughed a bunch.
my problem lies with the people who left comments like, “why is she reacting that way? it’s just Colbert lol.” I haven’t seen the episode, but it bothers me that (white) people think she’s overreacting in this albeit slowed down clip, even if he is in character. I plan to watch the interview tonight, though.
He does this thing where he’s way too accurate and it winds up being depressing instead of funny.
I thought she was great on Colbert. She didn’t miss a beat.
I feel like when people of intelligence interview with Colbert any frustration on their part is from that part of their mind whispering: “And guess what? This is an accurate character he’s playing. People are actually fucking like this.”
I’m 90% sure she totally understands that he has this character and uses it for Poe’s Law comedy and in that last gif one can hazard a guess that her thought process is somewhere along the lines of: “Yep he nailed it…I hate people.”
That last comment… EXACTLY. Really though, I adore Melissa Harris-Perry. Still need to watch this.
ETA: Actually watched it last night. I don’t often enjoy Colbert’s interviews because I feel like his on-air persona gets in the way of really doing good, deep interviews, but Melissa was really awesome in the interview (as usual).

Do people not understand the Colbert Report at all? *sigh* the comments make me weep for the future…
My favorite part in this entire interview.
that awkward moment when you realize you’re talking...the problem, not the solution….
