Honestly, I don’t know… but seeing the reaction I’ve received from people over the last 6 years, while I was strictly vegetarian, I saw that a LOT of people assumed I was pompous for that alone, even though I never preached, and they often didn’t find out unless they brought it up or it was relevant to something in the conversation. It’s a divisive subject, and I have a feeling the idea of being super picky about what meat I will or won’t eat is probably an even MORE divisive stance than simply not eating meat.
So I’m not saying I think it’s pompous, but other peoples’ attitudes toward my diet are that it’s pompous.
But really? Do what you need to do, don’t worry about what others think. If you have your reasons, and can justify it to yourself and explain it at a level you’re happy with when others ask you about it, then I think you’re fine. Yeah, you’ll always come across assholes who will assume things about you regardless of what comes out of your mouth, but in the long-run, their opinions aren’t worth worrying about anyway.
